It was absolutely GORGEOUS out today. 46 degrees and sunny. I was walking around all day with the BIGGEST smile on my face and the weather definitely had something to do with it. And for the first time in forever (no frozen pun intended), NO BOOTS! I love my bean boots and my hunters, but it’s been a long winter and my legs are dying to breathe. I may go bare-legged tomorrow if I’m REALLY feeling daring, but we’ll see.
Dress: Boutique near my hometown, brand is Romeo and Juliet Couture/ Shirt: Banana Republic/ Necklace: J.Crew/Tights: Target/Shoes: Modcloth.
I totally stole the idea for this outfit off of Pinterest. I’ve been feeling kind of uninspired lately, and this morning I quickly searched “classic style” to see what I could come up with. There was an almost overwhelming amount of striped tops with crisp, white bottoms. I’ve recently made a couple orders with white bottoms in them (The J.Crew fluted skirt in Ivory and the Old Navy Pixie pants in classic white), but neither have come yet and I really wanted to try out this look. So, I improvised with a white lace dress and a blouse over it. I LOVE this Banana Republic shirt-I picked it up when I was home for thanksgiving and I wear it all the time. It’s so classic and I can layer almost any statement necklace over it. Today, I chose my cluster faux-pearls from J.Crew. Confession: they’re actually from CrewCuts, but no one would ever know ;). I finished it off with navy tights and the adorable Modcloth bow flats I talked about a few posts back. I really like how this outfit turned out- i’ve never really been used to mixing textures and patterns before, but I think stripes and lace are a really easy and classic way to do it. I can’t wait to keep experimenting in the spring!
What has this “heatwave” brought out in your wardrobe? What are you excited to wear this spring?

So. I constantly talk about my hatred for pants. I just don’t feel feminine or special in them! However, when I saw these beautiful printed pixie pants at Old Navy, my war reached a ceasefire. They remind me a lot of the J.Crew medallion pants, but they were about seventy dollars less expensive. So, YES. They are currently $25 online, so I’m tempted to scoop up another pair. They have them in about ten adorable prints and colors, so, lots of options 😉 I used to be scared of printed pants because I figured they wouldn’t do my bottom half any favors, but I’m coming around to it, and I love how much pizazz they add to an otherwise plain outfit.
I paired it with my J.Crew tilda top (that I have in two colors…oops), and a navy cardigan for H&M. I WAS wearing cute, nude flats earlier, but Michigan weather strikes again and we got hit with a snowstorm. So…hunters it is. I have to just hold on to the small instances of spring that we’ve been graced with this week. Soon, all the gray will be over and i’ll regain my piece of mind. At least, that’s what I sincerely hope. The whole aesthetic is very patriotic, which I am always a fan of. I think this is a great transitional outfit and I’ll definitely be repeating all of these pieces throughout the season!
Much love and more posts coming your way!
Ok, today is the last day of all this “polar vortex” nonsense but a templates of a whopping seven degrees plus an 8:30 class made one more day of pants in order.

I am unintentionally wearing my school colors today but I think I like this combination much better in these brighter, more pastel tones than in the fluorescent “maize rage”
That the entire campus plasters themselves in during football season. My philosophy is that if I dress in colors that are reminiscent of spring, spring will come to me. Solid thinking. I think with that logic, I’d be a great politician. So keep on the lookout for a pasty-white, J. Crew clad sarcastic girl gunning for the presidency in 2032.
Speaking of J. crew, I am obsessed with this jewel-collared oxford top. I have it in two colors, this blue and white. I think the sparkle at the top is the perfect amount- not too much to make it overbearingly “dressy” but just enough to make any other piece feel special. This cashmere cardigan is super comfortable too, and the yellow is a welcome pop of color from the dreary blacks and grays this month typically brings. These pants are the old navy “rockstar” cords, and they fit fabulously and are available in every color under the sun. What’s not to love? I swear I have shoes that aren’t these riding boots, just so you all know. And I promise I’ll wear them eventually.
I hope you all have great days!
Let’s all say a prayer of gratitude for Wifi-enabled planes and strong coffee. I’m alive! Currently taking off from Baltimore, where I had a layover, to Detroit. It’s about negative ten degrees in Ann Arbor right now (and no, I’m not being dramatic. It’s low of negative thirteen without windchill today.) so. That should be fun.

Layering is definitely an essential when traveling, I feel like a broken record with this hat but I just love it. I’m also rocking the same basic color palette as yesterday, but a little more comfort and a little less glamorous. I’ve never been so obnoxious as to wear a skirt on a plane, but one of these days. Mark my words. This sweater from J. Crew is super comfy merino wool, and I pair it with basically every bottom in my wardrobe. Same goes for the black puffer vest. I bought it back in the fall and have worn it dozens of times since then. And I got it for an incredible thirty dollars! Hail to old navy. The boot sock/ boot combination may be my favorite part, my feet are so toasty but I think it polishes the look off very nicely!
I hope everyone traveling today is safe!
