Hello, Sun.

It was absolutely GORGEOUS out today. 46 degrees and sunny. I was walking around all day with the BIGGEST smile on my face and the weather definitely had something to do with it. And for the first time in forever (no frozen pun intended), NO BOOTS!  I love my bean boots and my hunters, but it’s been a long winter and my legs are dying to breathe. I may go bare-legged tomorrow if I’m REALLY feeling daring, but we’ll see.

Dress: Boutique near my hometown, brand is Romeo and Juliet Couture/ Shirt: Banana Republic/ Necklace: J.Crew/Tights: Target/Shoes: Modcloth.

I totally stole the idea for this outfit off of Pinterest. I’ve been feeling kind of uninspired lately, and this morning I quickly searched “classic style” to see what I could come up with. There was an almost overwhelming amount of striped tops with crisp, white bottoms. I’ve recently made a couple orders with white bottoms in them (The J.Crew fluted skirt in Ivory and the Old Navy Pixie pants in classic white), but neither have come yet and I really wanted to try out this look. So, I improvised with a white lace dress and a blouse over it. I LOVE this Banana Republic shirt-I picked it up when I was home for thanksgiving and I wear it all the time. It’s so classic and I can layer almost any statement necklace over it. Today, I chose my cluster faux-pearls from J.Crew. Confession: they’re actually from CrewCuts, but no one would ever know ;). I finished it off with navy tights and the adorable Modcloth bow flats I talked about a few posts back. I really like how this outfit turned out- i’ve never really been used to mixing textures and patterns before, but I think stripes and lace are a really easy and classic way to do it. I can’t wait to keep experimenting in the spring!

What has this “heatwave” brought out in your wardrobe? What are you excited to wear this spring?

Much love,

“Going out” clothes typically present a challenge to me. I’m not a fan of the bodyconcious, neon styles that seem to be the ubiquitous college girl uniform for weekend wear, and hell will freeze over before I’m comfortable in a crop top. So, I usually tend to stick with what I know. A great silhouetted dress, some textured tights, neutral shoes (these Banana republic booties are ADORABLE! A bit too nice to wear to your standard frat party, but perfect for a nice dinner or bar-hopping), a pop of color, and a little shine. I always fall back on my LBD’s because I know they will be continually flattering. They are the perfect canvas for sparkle and sensuality. If you find a great black dress to wear out, you’ll feel your confidence increase tenfolds, no matter how the night goes. This topshop one is really a great example. I’m going to search the internet for more lovely LBD’s and make a separate post with my favorites. But, for a go-to night look, I’ve paired this one with some basic textured tights, a red faux-blazer (It’s fun to have blazers in multiple colors, h&m is the perfect place to find them), and a gorgeous teardrop necklace. I think it’s a classic yet universally flattering and chic outfit and a girl of any age or size can rock!
What do you like to wear out?
Much love,
